Pond Aeration
What exactly is aeration?
Aeration is the process of exposing
something to oxygen; to purify something by exposure to air. With our aeration
windmills you will be doing just that to your pond.
How does this
help your pond?
By exposing your pond to more
oxygen via our windmills you will actually be improving the quality of your
pond. With the oxygen being pushed into the water, undesired chemicals are
pushed out through the surface of the pond such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon
dioxide and methane improving the quality of the water. Fish are more likely to
be healthier with more oxygen available at all levels of the pond. The rate of
decomposition also increases which rids the bottom of vegetation debris and fish
droppings. In the winter it also keeps the water from freezing keeping your fish
alive through the cold winter months. The movement of the water also keeps
mosquitoes from breeding which helps elevate the threat of the West Nile virus.
So how does it work?
- The windmills turn with as little as three mile an hour winds. The compressor in the fan is connected to the air diffuser that is placed at the bottom of your pond. The oxygen bubbles up from the diffuser displacing all of the bad chemicals causing them to be pushed above the water’s surface and out of your pond.
- With the movement of the oxygen from the diffuser the water is able to circulate allowing oxygen to flow into even the lowest levels of the pond. The movement of the water keeps the water fresh and free from pond scum that will accumulate over stagnant water. The debris that are in the water will decompose faster which will cause the unwanted chemicals to be dispelled much quicker. During the winter months this water movement will keep your pond from freezing keeping your fish alive. A freeze control system is recommended to keep the air lines clear.
What is right for me?
There are several different sizes of Aeration Windmills that are sure to fit any size pond.
- Ponds less than ¼ Acre 100x100 Feet or less:
-
12ft Aeration Windmill Product number OWS-AWS0011
- Ponds between ¼ Acre to ½ Acre 100x200 Feet or less:
16ft Aeration Windmill Product number OWS-AWS0016 - Ponds between ½ Acre to 1 Acre 200x200 Feet:

- Ponds between 1 Acre to 2 Acres 400x200 Feet:
- 20ft Aeration Windmill Product Number OWS-AWS0020,
- Another air diffuser is also recommended,
- More Tubing may be necessary
- Ponds larger than 2 Acres:
- 20ft Aeration Windmill Product Number OWS-AWS0020,
- Another air diffuser is also recommended,
- More Tubing may be necessary
What are the special features?
- Feature the new “BalCam” technology. This technology revolutionizes the industry by significantly increasing the amount of air produced while being able to evenly distribute it through all of the internal bearings making sure that you get the most out of your product as well as insuring that it will last for many, many years.
- Our windmills are manufactured from 18 gauge galvanized steel making sure that it will withstand years of normal wear and tear.
- Features a self-governing head so that it is protected against strong winds. It also has a streamlined wind driven aeration design making sure that the windmill will make the most out of the wind.
- Doesn’t require any sort of electricity to run saving you a lot of money.
- The aeration windmill is more cost effective than expensive pond chemicals that only offer a temporary solution to the problem.
- Our windmills are also environmentally friendly. Pond chemicals can be harsh and may only last for a short amount of time.
- The air diffusers have an air output rating of over 3.0 CFM at 30psi.
- The Aeration Windmill can be placed 1000’ away from the body of water and still be effective.
- Easy Assembly.
- Includes parts for one windmill head, tower, 100’ of ½ inch Polytubing Air Line, 1 Airstone, and a complete installation manual.
